Plants for the treatment of other materials

We design and build systems for drying and treating any product, even those less common or more difficult to dispose of. From dried fruit to officinal herbs, from organic and zootechnical waste to seeds, from ground HDPE to polyethylene PET, but not only.

To meet the most specific needs of our customers, we are committed to the creation of customized systems. If you still haven’t found the product you are looking for, contact us and we will find the solution that best suits your needs.

Nuts, peanuts, almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts

In the specific sector of dried fruit, Scolari has created plants for drying almonds, walnuts and peanuts. The systems are designed and built according to the specific needs of the customer.
The treatments vary, with differentiated technology, according to the programmed process temperatures and the drying times that are clearly different from peanuts to shelled or dressed almonds to hulled walnuts. The final humidity for storage is normally expected ≤ 10%. Continuous or alternative cycles in consideration of the required operating capacities and of the applied technologies compatible with the physical characteristics of the product to be dried.

Medicinal herbs

For officinal herbs, Scolari offers plants with alternative work cycles, standard plants for medium production capacity or special plants, specially designed and manufactured for drying officinal herbs.

For these systems, two stages are envisaged with recovery and recycling of the hot air exiting the first stage which, after a temperature integration, is sent to the second stage. The process temperatures are very low to ensure the total maintenance of the active ingredients present in the dried herbs.

Organic and zootechnical waste: bovine manure and droppings

The low temperature drying of organic and livestock waste allows to reduce the initial humidity contained and to sanitize them, eliminating any pathogens present. In the livestock sector, given the physical characteristics of the waste materials, these can, as an alternative to the drying process, be composted in biotunnels complete with handlers made by Scolari. The dried and sanitized materials are normally recovered to be used as bedding for cattle or as soil improvers or fertilizers in agriculture, horticulture, public parks, etc.

Seed

The type of seed drying systems must always be defined according to the physical characteristics of the seed to be dried. The varieties of seeds dried with Scolari plants vary from horticultural seeds, to those for the whole field, to legumes, to coated seeds, to washed seeds, to cereals, to oil seeds, etc.

All systems include process air with temperatures below 40 °, maximum ease of cleaning to avoid product pollution between one variety and another, continuous and / or alternative drying cycles, ease of maintenance and use.

Sea salt and sugar

The proposed system is based on the vibrating fluid bed technology which allows to dry sea salt or sugar to a final humidity ≤ 1% using low temperature hot air. The exposure times of the materials are very limited and do not alter in any way the chemical-physical characteristics of the materials.

The design of this type of system is carried out with particular attention, given the destination of the dried materials: the whole system is made of Aisi 304 or Aisi 316 and is extremely easy to clean and maintain, to allow operators to intervene systematically and avoid stopping points that can create pollution problems during processing.

Ground HDPE, polyethylene PET

For the recovery and reuse of both HDPE and PET, after washing, it is necessary to provide for the drying of the residual moisture.

Since this is surface humidity, Scolari proposes the vibrated fluid bed system, which allows to reduce the residual humidity ≤ 1%, eliminating problems for the final processing of the material. The system is a continuous cycle with heat recovery and dust suppression, in order to comply with current regulations for emissions into the atmosphere.

Marc – grape seeds

The drying of pomace and grape seeds is normally foreseen to reduce the humidity of the product to a level that allows to divide the materials with sieve systems or with aureolauci systems.

Scolari has built numerous systems in the sector with technologies suited to customer requests. After an initial drying of the mixed material (pomace and grape seeds together), the materials are subdivided and then the seeds are taken back to complete drying at a final humidity of ≤ 10% and then proceed with the extraction of the oil they contain.

Legumes: beans, coriander, peas

The drying process of legumes must be evaluated according to the characteristics of the legume to be treated and its final destination, which can be for human consumption or for use as a seed for reproduction.
The temperatures are different and the drying times are significantly higher for breeding seeds, because they must almost entirely preserve their germination capability. Continuous or alternative production cycles according to the required production capacities.
