Civil and industrial sludge dryers are the ideal solution to effectively respond to the ever increasing difficulty in disposing of these products and the related increase in costs. In fact, in normal landfills it is no longer allowed due to the limit of 80 mg / l on the DOC, so it is necessary to resort to landfills for hazardous waste. Furthermore, the disposal on agricultural land has been periodically suspended, due to a ruling by the Lombardy Regional Administrative Court and it is expected that it will soon be subject to many restrictions.

For these reasons, efforts are increasingly being made to reduce the volume and weight of the sludge produced by mechanical and thermal dehydration. Scolari has therefore designed a line of civil and industrial sludge dryers that can satisfy medium and large companies or contractors.

Civil and industrial sludge drying plants: quality and savings

The dehydration process using drying systems allows to reduce the weight of the sludge according to the initial and final humidity. In most cases, the sludge has an initial humidity level of 75% and must therefore be centrifuged or belt-pressed. Reducing the humidity to 15% results in a weight loss of 70%. This means that from 1000 kg / of wet sludge, 300 kg of dry sludge remains. If we consider that the average disposal cost is around € 200 / ton, with industrial dryers for civil and industrial sludge disposal costs are reduced by 70%.

For drying, hot air or natural gas is used, if there is no heat available to recover. Also in this case, despite the price of gas, the disposal of sludge would allow a cost reduction of 50%, which would even reach 70% if there was the possibility of recovering thermal waste on site.

The main features of our dryers for the treatment of civil and industrial sludge:

  • Drying process with hot air at a temperature that can vary from 75 ° C to 150 ° C depending on the available thermal that can be recovered on site from hot or superheated water, from steam, diathermic oil or obtained from fossil fuels such as natural gas o LPG;

  • Automatic control of the final average humidity set by the operator;
  • Drying systems for sludge suitable for continuous use 24 hours a day with remote control;

  • Plant design and control tests for the detection of the sludge evaporation curve and times by means of laboratory simulation on real plants
